Our Story
The best little barber shop in Birmingham opened its doors in 1949. Max & Marie Ege owned and managed the shop and were later joined by their eldest son Keith Ege. Keith worked along side his father until Max retired in 1959. Keith continued working at The Barber Pole until his passing in 1997. Keith's wife Helen, ran the shop for a few years until their daughter, Sue took over.
In 2007, Sue decided it was time to sell the shop. The Barber Pole was purchased by Stephen Trachsel. Stephen had been a barber at the shop for several years prior to purchasing the Birmingham staple. Much has changed since 1949 however, The Barber Pole gives you a chance to step back in time. Come enjoy our old fashion shop, and the top of the line customer service our clients have experienced for decades.
